As the number of CT examinations performed in the United States has increased, concerns regarding the effects of medical radiation exposure has also increased.
A new technology has emerged that can reduce the radiation dose by 50%. This new technology, ASiR™, is exclusively available at AMI-Wall.
The CT scan (short for computed tomography) is one of the greatest advancements in modern medicine, enabling radiologists to see inside the human body to diagnose disease without invasive tests or surgery. The use of CT scans has increased over the last 20 years, which reinforces the importance of the new, low-dose CT scans provided at AMI-Wall.
This new technology is going to help us improve patient care in a couple of key areas. First, the GE VCT 64 slice CT scanner delivers the high quality images that will enhance our ability to accurately diagnose disease and detect life-threatening illnesses. Second, the technology will do this while making the exams better for patients by lowering the radiation dose. The ability to do these two things at the same time is beneficial for both patients and their doctors.
AMI-Wall is the first outpatient radiology practice in New Jersey to provide this revolutionary CT scan to patients. There are only 29 organizations in the United States with this technology. Notably others include the Mayo Clinic and The Mount Sinai Medical Center.
