Under the new guidelines, PET/CT coverage is now classified as a diagnostic tool for one of two strategies: Initial Treatment Strategy and Subsequent Treatment Strategy. Both strategies provide greatly expanded PET/CT coverage over the previous coverage that was limited to diagnosis, staging, restaging and monitoring response to therapy.
